Clean up for Debian

Description

This change fixes various problems encountered in the Debian autobuild process.
Specifically: improve 'make clean' (debian bug 442482), add a minor manpage (debian patch), make test in ae_diff2htm portable (debian bug 464484), fix whoami test in etc/test.sh (debian bug 393624), add shell magic to ae-cvs-ci (debian patch).
